Odds and ends
I'm still kinda stuck in Chiang Mai. But that's only because I want it, in a way ^^ I bought a really good book on the Karen and Thai-burmese border situation. It's edifying... It's Restless souls, by Phil Thornton. It's worth reading if you happen to come by it. Some say the Burmese generals are Nazi reincarnated...
One of the monks at Wat Suan Dok is Karen. His father is a Burmese Karen who came to Thailand. His mother is a Thai Karen. His uncle ... is one of the high-ranked soldiers of the Burmese Army. This monk, Phra Jack (ok, Phra Annesone...), told me that he could help me if I was getting in trouble. That his uncle could protect me.
Next year, Phra Jeck and his father are going to Rangoon to visit this uncle. He invited me to join them if I am still around. And I'm considering it. As much as I hate being acquainted with one captain (or whatever) from the Tatmadaw, it can be a serious asset.
First of all, if I do get into trouble one day because of my implication in Burma... I'll have someone to help me get out of it. And second, I can get an insight of what the Tatmadaw is doing. The moral of the Trojan Horse is... It's easier to defeat an ennemy from the inside ^^
I'm not saying that i'm going to fight or whatever, don't misunderstand me ! But a little observation would do no harm. And reporting after under anonymous conditions could do, too. But anyway... It's not tomorrow :)
