On the move

Wat Suan Dok
Sa-wat dii ka Chiang Mai, au revoir Wat Suan Dok. I left this morning, almost 7 weeks after my first step in the city. And I definitely go back. Got some people waiting for me. People I'm looking forward to seeing again. New experiences to have, new people to meet, a teaching to learn, students to help, refugees to listen to, and so much more. Chiang Mai's going to be my new residence soon enough :)

Long boats on the Thai side

From the Guest House, Thailand disappears with the sun

Ricochet is universal...

So I crossed to Laos. A 4-hour ride to Chiang Rai, just in time to hop into another bus. A real one this time, with no air-con, doors open all the way, and real people getting on and off every 10min. I like this one much better ^^
I arrived in Chiang Khong at 4:45pm and, believe me, it's worth it taking the 20-bt tuktuk to the ferry. I'm sure the LP got it wrong when they wrote 800m... Felt more like 2.5km... Crossing the Mekong is just a 2-min 30-bt deal and you're already in Lao. The visa is 1,200bt - 30$ for 30 days, but don't forget to bring a picture :)
My plans are to take a slow boat tomorrow to go to Pak Beng, spent the night there and then head to Tah Suang the next morning. Then take a sawngthaew into the land, letting all the tourists-crowded boat going down the Mekong, and go to Hongsa. It's a remote village where they still use elephants for much of the work. And then, back to the Mekong (or taking a sawngthaew) to get to Luang Prabang. Where you should have some more news ^^
Have a nice week !! Mine should be nice ^^ I'm so happy to be free again, to follow my own path at my own time, without expectations or restraint.
