Buddha Day
I just got a phone call saying "Hey, we saw the pics on your French blog but... couldn't understand a thing !" Here's the translation. Yeah, all of it... I wish I didn't say one of the sentence, though ^^
Buddhist live according to the Lunar Calendar. Every phase of the Moon (Full Moon, New Moon and the two halves) are the opportunity for a Buddha Day. At Mahachulalongkorn university, for university, there is no class on these special days. But they're just postponed to the next Saturday. It'd be just too many holidays ;) Sme, like Boy, choose to take their weekly leave on "Sunday + Buddha Day"
Today is one of the 3 most important Buddha Day. I forgot the name once more... So much with Pali for me... The reason of it is (or so I believe... got to check again lol) it is the day the Buddha announced his coming death. Like 3 months later. It's not foretelling, just the decision he made.
Another important Buddha Day is linked with 3 events of the Buddha's life : his birth, the day of his enlightenment and his death. Yes, he calculated all of his life... Calendar's well done :)
Thai people think that good deeds are more important on Buddha Days. So there would have been more people going alm offering this morning. As for myself... I slept. As monks said, there is not a day better than the other to do good deeds. I'll go alm offering tomorrow ^^
As it's a special Buddha Day, there's a ceremony tonight at Wat Suan Dok and in other temples. People will wear white (as usual. I just bought white clothes not so long ago. Me... wearing white) and walk around the Chedi 3 times, with candles and encens sticks. Give flowers to monks (food is only in the morning, as they cannot eat after noon). I got my encense and my candles, now i'm going to buy lotus flowers (hey, my name is Buageow, in thai ^^)
So, yesterday, when coming back from Mae Sot, I went to Monk Chat. Except that all the monks of Wat Suan Dok were sweeping and cleaning the temple. Have never seen so many monks at Wat Suan Dok... Have never seen so many monks that I don't know !

And then, I found "my" team ^^

Phra Ken, Phra Chhunny, Phra Jun, Phra Seng, Phra Jerry and Phra Hen
The towels are here to mask themselves like Touaregs and avoid breathing the dust...
Also... You can see 2 of the 3 clothings they wear. The top, with buttons on the left side and many pockets, and the "skirt". The hearsay about the monks skirts is the same than the hearsay about the Scottish kilts. But I'll never dare to ask whether it's true or not. ^^

Aow, so cute ! I almost ran after Phra Seng and Phra Jerry to get a better picture lol. Walking hand by hand, without giving it a second thought, sharing loving-kindness... here come the monks
